A trained private hire driver is on board to help ensure a smooth journey. This service is operated under the Government’s Code of Practice for automated vehicle trials.

Book an UberX, Uber Electric, or Uber Comfort trip in the Uber app as you normally would. If a Wayve-powered vehicle is available in your area, you may be offered the opportunity to be matched with one. Once you confirm the match, you’ll be able to experience Wayve’s autonomous driving technology on your ride.

If you’re in London, just make sure you have the most recent version of the Uber app and that your AV preference is turned on:

1. Tap Account in lower right corner of home screen
2. Tap Settings in the Accounts page
3. Scroll down to Ride Preferences and select Autonomous vehicle
4. Toggle on your AV preference to get more Wayve rides

During the trial phase, Uber rides powered by Wayve will operate in Greater London, excluding airport trips. Stay tuned for updates as we expand our collaboration with Wayve into more markets.

Drivers are there for you if you need anything or require any assistance. However, they will be focused on monitoring the vehicle, so we ask that chatting be kept to a minimum.
