About Alex
Alex Kendall co-founded Wayve in 2017 to reimagine autonomous mobility through embodied intelligence. From his award-winning research at the University of Cambridge, he pioneered a new end-to-end AI approach to self-driving, using deep learning to build a general-purpose driving intelligence that can understand its surroundings and make decisions using computer vision.
As CEO, Alex leads Wayve’s direction and execution, working closely with the leadership team, partners, and investors to scale and deploy its embodied AI globally. Under his leadership, Wayve has become one of the fastest-growing AI companies in autonomous driving.
Alex attended Cambridge as a Woolf Fisher Scholar and was elected a Fellow of Trinity College in 2017. His PhD research received the 2018 BMVA Prize and 2019 ELLIS Prize, and his work has been widely cited in the machine learning and robotics community. He has been awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering Silver Medal for outstanding contribution to UK engineering innovation, appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to artificial intelligence, and named among MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35 for his pioneering work in Embodied AI and autonomous driving.
