Inception

Wayve was born in Cambridge as a ‘contrarian’ start-up looking to pioneer a better way to build self-driving car technology using deep learning and AI advances.

We received $2.5M in seed funding. Months later, we were the first team to use reinforcement learning to teach a car to lane follow with just 10 minutes of feedback.

Using deep learning to drive

Wayve is the first company to demonstrate an end-to-end learned driving system with complete vehicle control, powering a self-driving vehicle on UK public roads.

We raised a $20M Series A and opened our HQ in London with a fleet of autonomous electric vehicles.

Asda and Wayve launch the largest AV grocery delivery trial in the UK

Partnering in last-mile delivery

Wayve announces its first commercial partnerships with Ocado Group and Asda, two of the UK’s largest grocery retailers, to trial AV technology on last-mile urban delivery routes in London.

We launched our first fleet data collection pilot program with DPD, the UK’s leading parcel delivery firm.

Scaling deep learning for AVs

Wayve develops the first AI driving model that can generalize to different cities and different vehicle types.

We raise $200M in Series B funding and open a second office in Mountain View, California.

We extend our partnership with Microsoft to scale deep learning for AVs.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are voluntary, identity-focused communities initiated by our team members. They serve a dual purpose: fostering safe spaces for connection and dialogue and raising awareness of issues their community may face.

Neurodivergents at Wayve

This ERG is dedicated to supporting and building a community for those who identify as neurodivergent or are exploring this aspect of their identity. We offer a judgment-free zone for sharing experiences and discussing challenges, aiming to broaden understanding and empathy.

Women Who Code

Women Who Code fosters strong connections across teams, encourages the sharing of advice, and promotes collaborative problem-solving. Through our regular discussions, we explore the challenges and opportunities of being in technical roles, inviting allies to join us in advocating meaningful change at Wayve and in the broader tech community.

Asians at Wayve

This ERG provides a platform for people of Asian descent or those connected to Asian culture to share their experiences and challenges of working in a country that differs from their heritage. It’s a space for discussing our collective identity and fostering a better understanding of our cultural traditions.

Black Excellence Network

This ERG is dedicated to building a strong, supportive, and empowering community for Black employees at Wayve. BEN provides a space to connect, share experiences, and celebrate Black culture while fostering career growth and internal mobility.
